Fleece to Scarf 2011 Winners

Fleece 2 Scarf
Three teams competed in the 2nd annual Fleece to Scarf Competition at the 2011 SVFF. Teams are comprised of a weaver and two spinners and a back up member. Following the competition and judging, there was a live auction of the scarves.
"Go Kool Jamz" from the Leesburg, VA area, placed first. This team had a male weaver using a rigid heddle loom and the two young ladies spinning. Their warp was dyed with Kool Aid and Walnuts.
"Team Uniquities" from the Vienna, VA area, placed second. This team of ladies participated in support of The Race for a Cure and donated their winnings to the Susan G. Komen fund.
"Warped Women" from the Warrenton, VA area placed third. This team used their winnings to bid on and win the second place scarf.
In addition to the overall competition, the judges awarded the Best Weaver prize money to the "Go Kool Jamz" weaver for his consistant beat, good selvedges and minimal errors. Best Spinning Team prize money went to the young ladies of "Go Kool Jamz" for their consistant individual spinning and their ability to spin the same thickness. They were also judged on their ability to keep the weaver supplied.
SVFF congratulates the teams and thank you to the three judges for jobs well done!
